It's been a few months of chaos in my home! Life has just been crazy busy with working two jobs, going to school and taking 4 classes (oh who's ingenious idea was that), and being momma to my precious baby girl! The most exciting thing that has been going on during these last few months is that I have been very diligently working on having my weight loss surgery. Starting towards the end of January we were waiting for my surgery to be approved by the insurance company. That was two weeks of me being a neurotic mess and being highly impatient. After that the fun began, I had to start meeting with the surgeon, the nutritionist, the physical therapist, and then a psychologist. Most of the time I lucked out and was able to schedule all my appointments in one day. I was given a surgery date of 4/5/13. Which was perfect it gave me a little over a month from surgery to lose some weight and get in my dress for Brittney's wedding in May. Between January and surgery I had to work very diligently on changing my diet and changing my eating habits, along with that I had to learn how to exercise more frequently. I think I successfully accomplished this task because I managed to lose 32 pounds before surgery<br />
<br />
Anyway, at this point it has been four weeks since surgery and I have lost another 21 pounds and I'm 9 pounds away from being under 300 pounds. I'm super duper excited! So much closer to my goal already. It's amazing! I have more energy already and love going to play with my little girl! It's the greatest feeling in the world feeling like I can keep up with her!<br />
<br />
Lorelai is doing amazingly well! She has been fighting some allergies but seems to be handling it well. She seems to be talking more and more everyday. Along with that she is learning new words and she repeats just about everything. I really have to watch what I'm saying around her. Every time I look at her it seems that she has gotten taller. We are anxious for the weather to warm up. We had a taste of 80 degree weather and now its cold rainy and in the 40s and its May!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-13468944839147531482013-02-28T21:48:00.001-08:002013-02-28T21:48:30.057-08:00Winter Wonderland....2 Months LateWell things were pretty quiet and easy going......minus the crazy deadlines at work....until we got hit by what is so lovingly being referred to the Snowpocalypse of 2013 on Feb 21st, 2013. I woke up that lovely morning at about 5 am and not a single drop of snow outside. My thoughts are a) the weather man is crazy and really exaggerating b) I'm going back to bed and I will get up in a few hours and head to work. Of course 8:00am rolls around and I so eagerly (notice the sarcasm) mosey my way out of the bed and look out the window only to find several snow covered vehicles that honestly look like they are giant snow balls. I then get Lorelai up and get her dressed. We go outside and dig our way out of the snow. I have decided I'm still going to try to get to work at this point. You have to understand when you live in South Dakota a foot of snow is nothing and my thought is that I can totally tackle this feat! I finally get the car dug out and Lorelai is safely in the warm van as we creep our way up the hill to Ashland Rd and then slowly creep up Ashland Rd to Stadium. I'm beginning to realize just how heavily the snow is falling and that I can only see about 10 feet in front of me. I drive a little bit further and determine I'm calling my boss and telling her I'm not coming in to work. The worst thing ever for me would have been to be stuck at work and unable to get to my daughter. Needless to say Lorelai and I turned around and went home! We spent the day just hangin out around the house and cleaning. I was able to clean, do laundry, and got to play on the wii a bit. In fact we were able to find Super Mario Bros 3 on the wii! I was so excited about that! <br />

Friday, I was luckily scheduled to work at the apartments. So, I was able to take Lorelai to daycare and then walk around the corner from my apartment to the office which was nice. It was pretty quiet other than dealing with calls from tenants regarding the snow and how upset they were because the company that we hire to plow the snow was plowing snow apparently behind their cars. I'm sorry the snow has to go somewhere and unless you are planning on moving your cars before they get there then yes the snow is going to a little stacked up behind your car. Enough of my rant about that. The weekend was pretty normal, just my typical work schedule, homework, and a little bit of play time with Lorelai. Monday I was able to get back to the office and work on some things that really needed to get done. However, Monday afternoon the MoDot issued a No Driving Advisory for 48 hrs starting Tuesday due to another snow storm. So, guess what Tuesday was another snow storm. This one we didn't get as much snow accumulation but it had very heavy wind and the snow that did fall was a very wet and heavy snow. It caused a few roofs to collapse on some businesses, a ton of residents in the MidMo area lost power, and I was out of internet for a large majority of the day due to a fiber optic cable that got cut. I didn't try to go outside that day until about 2:30 in the afternoon when I looked outside and the roads looked like they had been pretty well cleared off. So, Lorelai and I made a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up some things to create my Picture Collage on the empty wall in the living room that was driving me nuts! I also was able to make a coat rack which I had been wanting to do. So, it overall was a productive afternoon. Anyhow, it's now Thursday and it is still snowing just not as bad and yet again they are calling for another snow storm on Tuesday! All I can think of is that we need to have inclement weather pay! Lol. I'm kind of sick of snow at this point and have determined that God just wanted us to have our winter wonderland a little bit later this year and that the groundhog lied big time! :-) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
P.S. Walmart on Conley closed today due to a fear of the roof collapsing from the heavy snow. However, I made it there before they closed it down and I was able to find Lorelai an absolutely adorable hat that actually fit over her head! Plus it was on sale!! Super Excited! </div>

Ahhh!!! So, I figure now is the time to <br />
attempt to catch up on the happenings of the McDougals! <br />
<br />
July: Was pretty normal, nothing to super exciting. The 4th of July came and went. Lorelai seemed to enjoy <br />
the fireworks more this year than last. She just stared at them so intently it was rather amusing!<br />
<br />

<br />
August: Turnover season at the apartments which means it gets a little chaotic and crazy! That's pretty much all that happened in August.<br />
<br />
Septemeber: Beginning of Fall which is totally my favorite time of year! The weather cools downs just enough, the orange, yellow, and red leaves start showing up, and of course that means Halloween is right around the corner!<br />
<br />
October: Well let's see my baby girl turned 2!!!! We had her birthday party at the Little Gym. I think that was the greatest thing ever! They did practically everything as far as sending out invitations, having games ready for the kiddos, etc. It was just great to have so much fun celebrating w/ Lorelai and getting to see her with her friends! The middle of October I started a second job at MBS Textbooks in their call center. I had worked their previously when Lorelai was first born during their "Winter Rush" as we so lovingly refer to it. Now, they have hired me as a part time permanent order processing agent.It's fun and exhausting but you do what you have to do to make it sometimes!Halloween was also this month. Lorelai dressed up as a witch.However, we didn't make it out trick or treating. She decided throwing a temper tantrum was much more enjoyable. So, after her temper tantrum we curled up on the couch watched movies and ate pizza! Quality mommy-daughter time!<br />

November: Was Thanksgiving. As usual protocol with the McDougal's we all gathered up at my mom's house and celebrated with her! My friend Chris and his parents came over to have dinner with us as well which was great. I love having family and friends around and just getting to enjoy quality time with each other!</div>

December: Christmas! Christmas was at my mom's house this year. It was wonderful! I was super excited to have the family around as usual! Zoe got to come home for about a week. Although, I wish she would have stayed longer but I know she needed to get back to Kansas City to go to work. I was able to get my mom a 32" Flat Screen Tv for Christmas and she was totally suprised and excited. It's really a nice feeling to be able to get your mom something that she has been wanting for a while and totally wasn't expecting to get. I was also able to get Lorelai a Wii for christmas. I'm hoping that I can find some good educational games for her to be able to play on it! Also, on Christmas an unusual McDougal family tradition is to go to a Chinese restaurant for Chrismtas dinner! So, that is what we did! </div>

January 2013!!!: A new year! Well it's January and in the accounting office that equals craziness!!!!! It means W-2s have to get sent out and we are transitioning from 2012 to 2013! It also means the start of tax season for us! Also, I have started classes again! I'm taking Intro to Business, Accounting I, Macroeconomics, and College Orientation. I have decided I'm a little crazy....single parent, working technically 3 jobs (although it only feels like 2), and taking 4 classes. I guess it will all pay off eventually. This year my best friend Ashley will be coming home for about 6 months while her husband Nic is being deployed to Japan, my friend Chris will be moving back home after being in Kansas City for entirely way to long, my munckin butt aka Gabe will be turning 4, I'm turning 24, Zoe is turning 20 and my best friend Brittney is getting married on her birthday, Parker is turning 22, a mutual friend of mine and Zoe's who we love dearly will be getting married in July, I have heard whispers of vacations to the east coast this summer to see family, Lorelai will turn 3 in October, and the most exciting thing for me personally is I will hopefully be having the lap band surgery done! </div>
<br />
That's been the last 7 months & a little of what the new year has in store for us! <br />

After work, I went with my mom, sister, and our friend Melanie to church for community live. I have really enjoyed going to community live here lately as it is just a good time for me to stop in the middle of the week and get to a peaceful spot and slow my world down again and refresh for the rest of the week. Some funny things happening at during Community Live have to be Rod saying the phrase "swagger wagon" to which I then found out Toyota had made a hillarious video that is called that....it's quite entertaining to say the least. Then David Arinder one of our pastors was talking about the joys of being an empty nester and how his wife took the towels to do laundry while he was in the shower so he just hopped out of the shower and walked through the house....things we didn't want to know. Then to end the night at Community Live James one of the guys in the band had everyone playing the air guitar. Zoe and Mom did a wonderful job with their air guitar performance. After community live Mom and I took Lorelai to the quad on campus to go see Sherlock Holmes 2. Such a great movie and it was a goregous night to be watching the movie under the stars! Love doing things like that!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Friday night I got to experience a little bit of freedom! Lol My boss's band Faded Youth was playing at a local bar here in town and they invited everyone out to go watch them play. So my daddy was nice enough to watch Lorelai for me so I could go out and see the band. It was great fun and daddy I can't thank you enough. Saturday morning we got up and met my dad, Lorelai, Parker, Caroline, and Zoe at Cracker Barrel for a Happy Father's Day/Happy Birthday Parker celebration. It was really fun to have everyone together. We don't do that often enough! Then Saturday afternoon Mom made Parker a cheescake for his birthday and we all got to enjoy a wonderful lunch together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sunday I got up and went to church and then just spent the afternoon relaxing a bit. Then later that evening I took Lorelai to the Juneteenth event. I think it's important to expose her to heritage. After that Zoe, Mom, Lorelai, and I went to the summer concert series at Shelter Gardens where they had a bluegrass and cajun band playing. It was a ton of fun and Lorelai really enjoys music. So she had a blast dancing and running around in circles. </div>

That's been the excitement in the life of the McDougals! </div>

As they say to be continued.........</div>Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-37777354846147353942012-06-12T08:07:00.001-07:002012-06-12T08:07:50.767-07:00Summer Has Begun!Let's start with Memorial Day weekend. That was an interesting weekend for sure. That Saturday was a little boring but not Sunday. I woke up and got Lorelai ready for church. We walked out side to go unlock the pool and I was very suprised as to what I found. This rushing gush of water coming up out of the ground by the side walk. Needless to say we had a water main break at the apartments. So, I obviously didn't make it to church that day. Lorelai went with Papa to work while I stayed and tried to help get the water situation under control. Eventually the water situation got under control but we had to shut off water to the entire apartment complex for the day and then we had a boil order for the next 24 hours after they turned the water back on. At that point I decided to pack up my laundry and Lorelai and go stay at Papa's house where I could get laundry done. On Monday we just kind of spent the day lounging around until later that afternoon when we went to a BBQ at my dad's friends house. He makes the most amazing food ever!<br />
<br />
This past weekend was the 20th Anniversary for Caterpillar in Boonville. This is where my dad works. So, I loaded up the car and Lorelai, Zoe, and myself went and met dad there. We got to tour the plant which was awesome. It was really cool to see the inside and how big the machines are and in general to see the place where dad works at. Zoe and Lorelai got to play in a bounce house which collapsed on them. It was kind of funny and scary at the same time. Then Lorelai got to ride on a pony which was so much fun. That was the first time she has ever seen a horse in person. The first ride she was a little scared and just kept a tight grip on papa. Of course after the first trip she was excited and wanted to ride a pony again. After awhile we took her back down to ride the pony again. She really enjoyed that.<br />

In February Brittney's son Gabe aka munchkin butt turned 3 and we went to his birthday party at Burger King. Brittney and I made Rice Krispy Treats instead of cake for his birthday because he is allergic to eggs. Gabe, Lorelai, Shawn, and Wesson had tons of fun playing in the play yard at Burger King. It's kind of funny watching Lorelai attempt to climb up and chase after the big boys. <br />

<br />
In March my best friend got married which was a ton of fun and very stressful at the same time. Ashley and Nic had been through so much and it was great to see them finally get married. The joke about their wedding is third time is a charm and I don't mean marrigages. Anyhow, it was a goregous ceremony and was filled tons of love and laughter. Then Ashley and Nic moved to North Carolina where Nic is stationed. I was sad to see them go and I miss them both very much. I hope to visit them sometime soon.<br />

In April we had Easter which was a lot of fun! My sister came for Easter which I was very excited about. Even if she did come home with a staph infection. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
April was also my 23rd birthday! I'm getting to be so old! I enjoyed dinner with my mom one night and then the next night I got to go to dinner and a play with my dad. We saw this great play called Murder at the Howard Johnson. It was an awesome comedy! </div>

May has been a little crazy. It's the beginning of turnover season at the apartments. We are staying incredibly busy. I also had my final for college algebra. My sister has officially completed her freshman year of college at KCAI. I'm so proud of her. In fact she is actually coming home today! I can't wait to see her. This week is also her 19th birthday. We may go to SoCo to celebrate so that will be fun! Then the beginning of June I will be moving to a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. It will be amazing for Lorelai to have her own room and to have so much more storage space. I also will be gaining a brand new kitchen! Lorelai is beginning to gain more words in her vocabulary. She loves saying shoes, push, stop, fish, dog and then making the sound the dog makes. She just keeps getting smarter and smarter everyday. I love watching her grow! There are tons of things to look forward to and lots of things to keep me busy! </div>

Things are staying busy as usual around here. It seems as though there is just always something going on. Let's see I really can't remember a whole lot of what happened since that last time I posted. So I will just start with Christmas! This was Lorelai's second Christmas and it seemed to be a little more exciting to her then last Christmas (she was only 3 months old.) Lorelai got spoiled and got a doll house that her great great great grandpa had made for my mom at one point and my uncle fixed it up for Lorelai and shipped it to us all the way from Vermont. That was Lorelai's big gift for this year. She seemed to be more interested in the wrapping paper and boxes than most of her toys although her Dora shoes caught her attention. We went up to my mom's house for Christmas and enjoyed it with my siblings, my mom, and Parker's girlfriend Caroline. We all really enjoyed the gifts that we got from each other. Then later Christmas Day as the usual McDougal family tradition we went and had Christmas dinner at China Garden. Which was really good. The following week I drove to St.Louis on Tuesday, Parker and Caroline drove there on Tuesday as well, and then Mom and Zoe drove up to St.Louis on Wednesday to pick my grandmother up from the airport. She flew in from Vermont to spend a few weeks with us! We then spent Thursday sight seeing around St.Louis and eating brunch at this restaurant called the Rooster. It was really Yummy!<br />
<br />
New Years was just another day to me. I ended up being at home and falling asleep. In fact I've done that for the last three years! I really enjoyed my visit with my Grandma and was very excited that she got to meet her first great grandchild. She was totally in awe of Lorelai. Lorelai showed her all the things she can say and how she can climb up stairs. Zoe and Parker have been driving around like crazy. Zoe has so far gone to Iowa and then had to go back to Kansas City a couple of times for work study training. Parker has been home and then driving back and forth to St.Louis because his girlfriend has moved back there and gotten a job at a hospital there. We are very proud of her but this distance thing is pretty hard on Parker and I'm sure on Caroline too. He has been talking about moving there this summer. <br />
<br />
I have started another class at school. I'm taking Biology. It's a little nerve racking because it's been a few years since I've had biology. Although I was pretty good at it in high school but that was five years ago! So we'll see how this goes. My teacher is the wife of my science teacher from junior high school. I think that is pretty funny. I can tell you this though I definitely am not fond of this in class thing. I got so used to being able to do my classes online and that I really enjoy. It allows me to work on it a little bit, stop and do whatever I need to do and then go back to it. As opposed to the in class thing where I go to work and then right after work I go to class. It's kind of exhausting and hard to stay awake but I'm going to make it through this. <br />
<br />
Meanwhile, one of my best friend's is getting married in March. So we've been busy dealing with wedding planning and I'm the maid of honor which is exciting but a huge responsibility as well. Then my other best friend got engaged over Christmas and even though it's going to be a year or so before they get married we have already tried to start planning some small details for her wedding. I'm also the maid of honor for her wedding as well. I'm very excited for the both of them and can't wait to be apart of these weddings! Love you both girls!! <br />
<br />
I think that pretty much covers everything I can remotely think of at the moment! So Happy New Year to everyone!! :)Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-76673794270409567942011-10-11T08:28:00.000-07:002011-10-11T08:28:01.705-07:00Baby Steps, It's All About the Baby StepsLife has been a little chaotic these last couple of weeks! To start with Lorelai turned one this past friday and boy did we have fun! We had the family birthday dinner with Mimi and Papa friday evening at the 63 Diner. Which is a family favorite and Lorelai got to experience her first McDougal family birthday tradition at the diner. Brownie and ice cream........this equals trouble! <br />

Then on Saturday we had her first birthday party! It was a very exciting time we had some friends come over and we decorated pumpkins and ate lots of cake and pizza! Lorelai loved being with her friends and family. She also enjoyed her gifts especially this turtle that talks and sings! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now to the Baby Steps! I got my own apartment! It's a huge baby step in my life. Something I have been wanting to do for awhile and the oppertunity came along and I got a great deal due to some awesome people that I work for! So, the entire week before Lorelai's party I was moving and planning a birthday party all at the same time. It was a little chaotic and I think I was kind of nuts for doing it but both things got accomplished successfully I must say! I'm adjusting to being in my own house with just Lorelai and I. It's pretty quite which I'm not used too and I'm constantly feeling like I need to be doing something or that I need to be out and about. I'm not used to not having anyone around. Good thing mom doesn't live that far away and I still see dad practically everyday! Going grocery shopping by myself is another adventure I'm getting used to. I come from a family of five so grocery shopping was a big to do in our house and it always seemed as if we were buying a ton of food! So now I'm just buying for me and Lorelai (who doesn't eat a ton) and I feel kind of strange with just the little bit of stuff I get. I feel as though I need to be buying more even though I really don't. So, those are the new adventures we have encountered lately and we'll keep you posted on more adventures to come!!! :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Fall Everyone!!!!!!!!</div>

Last weekened we went and spent the weekend over at Mimi's (grandma's) and Lorelai kept trying to get off the couch. She would scootch to the edge and kind of look down at the ground like how do I get down there. So Mimi rolled her over on her belly and showed her how to swing one foot off the couch and then the other. Now Lorelai constantly wants to climb up and down off the couch. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Then next thing I know Mimi had gone upstairs and Lorelai was at the base of the stairs and I was behind her and she starts climbing up the stairs. So we let her climb all the way up the stairs and then I brought her back down the stairs and she climbed right back up. I decided it's time to get the baby gates!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Last nigh I was sitting with her and we were watching dora and swipper was taking something I don't exactly remember what but Lorelai out of nowhere starts saying "Uh Oh" over and over and over again! I though it was absolutely adorbable! I do believe that her going to daycare is having some benefits! Anyhow, I will get some new pics up of Lorelai soon! </span>Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-91008860908244708532011-08-29T10:26:00.000-07:002011-08-29T10:42:08.568-07:00It's Just Nuts!Things have just been nuts here lately with the McDougal Family! Last weekend we got my sister moved to Kansas City for school. This is one of those things that I'm cautiously optimistic for her. I'm excited for the new chapter that of her life that she has started and yet hesitant to the change. For any of you that know me totally know that I'm not a huge fan of change. Now on top of my sister moving, my brother has moved to Jeff City to go to school at Lincoln. I'm very proud of him and know he will do just fine. I know that he loves it there and I think that God has a huge plans for him there as well. Oh wait forgot one more thing....Mom moved too! By the way all this moving happened in the same week. So anyhow, everyone is pretty much moved and situated for the most part. Mom's place we still have some work to do. It's really weird to me being the only child around my parents at this point. I keep wanting to call my brother and sister and say hey let's go grab lunch or go to a movie...it's not that easy anymore. As far as I'm concerned I have just been busy working and taking care of Lorelai.
<br />
<br />Lorelai is doing well. She now has 8 teeth and loves to eat just about anything. She is attempting to drink out of a big kid cup without a straw or lid. So I'm excited for her but don't necessarily like the mess that goes along with it. Although at the same time I think it's totally adorable! Lorelai had another fashion show this past weekend at the Kid City event that the Holiday Inn Expo Center put on. Which seems to really enjoy all the attention that comes along with it. I do have to say though the most exciting part of it was when Lorelai and I were sitting on the floor to take a break I looked over at her and she was totally standing up all by herself without holding onto anything for about 10 to 15 seconds. I have a feeling walking will be occuring soon. It's so exciting to watch her grow and discover new things. It's also kind of sad to see her grow up so quick. I just want to keep her small! Lol I'm working hard on getting ready for her first birthday and I'm pretty excited about it. I should be getting invites out soon!
<br />
<br />That's all I've got for now! :)
<br />Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-74079424407007632262011-08-08T17:57:00.000-07:002011-08-08T18:06:37.566-07:00Just an UpdateWell things have been a little nuts lately. We survived the turnovers at the apartments! Yay!!!!!! That's such a stressful time of the year but it went very smoothly. Now we are getting ready to go through a second smaller turnover which I think will go just fine. My sister is getting ready to have her going away/college party as she calls it which will be this coming saturday. It will be fun! Also, I have my brother, sister, and mom moving to 3 different places all in the same week! All I can say is AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Lol.
<br />
<br />Now it's time for the infamous Lorelai update. My little girl is now crawling everywhere and she just turned 10 months old yesterday. Gosh, these past ten months have flown by and she just keeps growing it's kind of crazy. Lorelai now has 7 teeth and one more on the way for sure! This past week she came down with a fever of 104.1 and she had it for about three days. Lets just say that was the longest three days and nights I have ever been through. All she wanted to do was lay on top of me and cry constantly. I really didn't get much sleep through that but I'm happy to report she is doing really well now and back to her normal self. I have been working on trying to figure out Lorelai's first birthday party and I think I have it figured out for the most part. Although I'm sure I will end up tweaking it a bit.
<br />
<br />I think that's enough for now and I hope all is going well in everyones worlds!
<br />Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-80268151489491332632011-07-16T13:37:00.001-07:002011-07-16T13:51:25.967-07:00A Crazy Chaotic LifeThings have been a little crazy since the last time I posted. Right now I'm working like crazy and still going to school and being mom. Work has been kind of nuts with it being turn over season at the apartments. We're running around like chickens with our heads cut off because we have air conditioners falling apart it seems like every six seconds and they are proving to not be easy fixes! I have a week left of school for this eight week session and then I have to take my final and then I get to start my next class which will be Biology. I took it in high school this is just a higher level Biology but I think I will enjoy. The only thing I'm hesistant about is that it requires me to be in class for 5 hours a night for two nights a week. So that's time that takes me away from Lorelai and getting other things done around the house. I will have to do some adjusting to that. My baby sister graduated from high school in May and turned 18 the same month. Anyhow, she is just getting ready to have her "graduation/dorm party" as she calls it next month. Then she is off to KC to go to school August 19th. So I'm anxious/nervous about her leaving but I'm very proud of her.<br /><br />Lorelai is now 9 months old and is getting sooo big. She started crawling the week before the 4th of July. She now has 6 teeth and is eating all sorts of fun and exciting foods. She loves yogurt and pasta. Well just about anything for that matter. I had to take her to ER for the first time a few weeks ago because she had this diaper rash that just wasn't going away and then it would blister up and break open and bleed. She also wasn't drinking very much as far as formula is concerned. So I was getting a little worried about the possibility of dehydration. Anyhow, found out she had thrush which explains why she wasn't drinking very much and a fungal diaper rash. The doctors gave her some meds for those things and she seems to be doing a lot better! :) The 4th of July was fun. We went down to Warsaw to see of our old friends and they live right on the lake. So we took Lorelai down to the dock and stuck her feet in the water and she loved it. We also took her on her first boat ride. She seemed to enjoy it minus the wind blowing in her face. She still hasn't figured out what to think about the whole wind thing.<br /><br />I think that is latest excitement in my world! I will keep you all posted on more adventures that Lorelai and I have! :)Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-8245543969443296992011-05-24T10:38:00.000-07:002011-05-24T10:48:53.818-07:00Making Baby StepsLet's see where do I start....This past weekend my baby sitter has finally graduated from high school. It's so weird!!!!! I"m super duper excited for her though. It's a "new start" sorta speak for her. She is going to be going to the Kansas City Art Institute in the fall. I'm so very proud of her. She one so many awards from the high school this year which was totally amazing! So after Zoe's graduation we went and had lunch at Rio Grande...yum yum yum! Then one of my good friends called and invited me to go see Tim McGraw in concert. So I went and it was a ton of fun! I hadn't been out in quite a while and hadn't been to a concert in a few years. It was a blast!!!! :)<div><br /></div><div>I have successfully completed my first class at Columbia College and passed my psychology course with a B! I'm very very very proud of myself. I just signed up for my next course which ought to be interesting i'm taking Intermediate Algebra...yikes! </div><div><br /></div><div>Lorelai is doing well she continues to grow! She is all smiles most of the time. She is sitting up extremely well and is working on crawling. It's so funny she can get up on all fours and then starts rocking but just hasn't quite figured out how to get the hands and feet moving! So hopefully we will work on that some more. The doctor gave her the okay start eating real "grown up" food if it's soft and small. We have discovered she loves pasta, vegetables, yogurt, and boy oh boy does she love bananas! She has also discovered the joys of playing in mashed potatoes! She had her fashion show at the kids day last weekend and she looked so stinking cute! I will post some pictures soon! </div>Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-40610920358210027122011-05-10T09:38:00.000-07:002011-05-10T09:48:19.332-07:00Wow I'm Really Behind!Lets see where do we begin. Lorelai had her six month check up last week and she is getting big! She is now 26 inches long and weighs 16 Ibs 11oz. She is in the 60th percentile for height and weight and 25th percentile for head circumference. So that is awesome. She is now sitting up and working on crawling. She can get on all fours and starts to rock but she can't quite get the movement going. Hopefully she will get going pretty soon! I swear she is so stinking smart. She is keeps trying to drink out of a regular cup and plastic water bottle. Which is nuts! Anyhow, this past weekend on Mother's Day Lorelai got dedicated at church. I was very excited about that! Pictures will be posted soon! Easter was fun we went to church twice and then went and had lunch at my mom's with my brother, sister, and my mom. Oh Lorelai is going to be in a fashion show this coming weekend for Children's Orchard family fun day! I'm very excited about that. So I have picked out some cute outfits for her to wear! Everyone is welcome to come out it's a free event held at the Holiday Inn next to the mall on Saturday May 14th! <div><br /></div><div>Nothing too exciting is going on with me. I have been working lately. Things are starting to pick up at the apartments and students are on the hunt for apartments! That has been keeping me busy. I'm getting ready to finish my first class at Columbia College. I have my final on Saturday so that ought to be interesting! Then I get to start a math class...ugh! </div><div><br /></div><div>That's about all that's new with us McDougals</div>Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-41179613131904701362011-03-22T13:06:00.000-07:002011-03-22T13:18:22.742-07:00A New ChapterWell friends, I feel like I'm starting a new chapter in my life. I got accepted to Columbia College and will be starting school again shortly...hopefully like next week if everything goes well. I'm very excited about that. I plan on finishing up my pre requisites and then I can apply to there nursing school! I'm extremely excited about that. Meanwhile, dad's house is up for sale. The landlord decided she had one to many properties and has decided to put the house up for sale. So, dad and I are dealing with house showings which is driving me nuts at the moment. It's kind of hard to keep a house perfect with a 5 month old. So if you know of any places for rent fairly cheap in Boonville please let me know.<br /><br />Lorelai is now 5 months old and getting into everything! She is still working on sitting up. She can get the top half of her back up but not the lower half. She is still rolling over to her stomach but hasn't figured out rolling over to her back. Oh and we started actual baby food. She is totally loving that and I can't seem to feed it to her fast enough. These past few days she has been congested so I'm trying to keep her from getting sick. Vicks vapor rub is totally amazing! Anywho I can't believe it's been five months already. She just keeps growing and suprising me everyday!<br /><br />On the other hand my good friend Nic came home from boot camp this past week! It was good to see him. I can't even begin to say how proud of him I am and how greatful I am for his service even though he is just beginning! I pray for all of our service members and the hard work that they do and their families that allow them to do it! Unfortunately, Nic had to leave this morning to go to combat training and then to tech school. So it's going to be awhile before we see him again.<br /><br />Last but not least apart of this new chapter in my life is I'm once again determined to lose more weight! Being pregnant does some strange things to your body. I have to say I have lost all the "baby weight" but it has shifted all the weight into some places that I really don't like! So I'm working on that! Bring on the fruits, veggies, water/tea, and some good old fashion exercise!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-86173409304960273812011-01-14T11:56:00.001-08:002011-01-24T12:39:05.641-08:00Brittney is Going to Drive Me Nuts if I Don't Do This!Here it goes....Since the last time I have posted Dad managed to fall and break his ankle in three places on Nov 22nd. Then Nov 29th he had surgery on his ankle. That went pretty good and since then he has been home with his foot elevated and on "good drugs" as he likes to say. So Lorelai and I have been staying at my dad's helping him out and trying to get him back on his feet, literally. Dad just recently got a letter stating that there is a possibility that he could go back to work on light duty on Jan 17th but would be unable to go back to full duty until May 2nd. Just in time for my sister Zoe's 18th bday and graduation! Meanwhile, he has just recently this past week gotten a low grade infection which had been causing him to chill and have a slight fever. He was put on antibiotics and we get to wait till he goes to the doctor on Jan 18th. Thanksgiving was fun. Me and my siblings spent thanksgiving with my mom. At our house we consider Thanksgiving to be "mom's holiday." She loves it! It was great to be around my family and spend some time with them. Then we were going to go to dad's that evening but we were so exhausted that we just decided we would have Thanksgiving w/ dad over the weekend. That was totally enjoyable we went out for our dinner and got to enjoy each others company.<br /><br /><br /><br />December and Christmas was an interesting time. December I got a 3rd job which is a temporary full time job at MBS Books in there call center. So I started training for them Dec 13th and finished training on the 28th. I actually had my first day on the call floor on Dec 29th and that was a totally nerve racking experience in my life. There are so many little details involved in that and make it a kind of complicated job when you are first learning. You definitely have to be good at multitasking. I guess that's why a lot of women work there. lol. Anyhow, I'm still working there and hoping that it may lead to a full time permanent position. We will see what happens with that though! Christmas, Oh boy what a story! It started off Christmas Eve my entire family including both my parents went to Christmas Eve service and sat together. Mom then invited dad over for chili afterwards. So we all loaded up after church and went to mom's for dinner. It was almost 11pm by the time we wound down. So mom suggested that Dad should just go stay the night at my brothers house with him and then come back in the morning and we can all open presents together and have breakfast. Christmas morning us girls woke up and got the morning rolling and waited oh so very patiently for my dad and brother to arrive. It was noon before they finally got there! We then all got our presents and opened them one by one. Then we sat down and had what was supposed to be breakfast but turned out to be more of a brunch. After that we all laid down and took naps because we were exhausted. When we all finally woke up it was time for another McDougal Family tradition.....CHINESE! This all started one year when mom burnt the food for our Christmas dinner so we decided we were going to go out to eat and the only place open was the Chinese restaurants. Now every Christmas we go out for dinner at the Chinese restaurant. So Dad had invited mom to come to Chinese dinner with us. We all went to Chinese and had an enjoyable time. I will say though trying to get food when your on crutches is quite the experience as dad was soon to find out. Lorelai, managed to knock over my full glass of soda with her arm at dinner. I was very happy to have her around and watch her experience her first Christmas w/ all the crazy McDougal Family Traditions. I was also very blessed to actually get to spend an entire Christmas with my whole family together. That was quite the experience in being humble and learning to forgive.<br /><br /><br /><br />It's now January and Lorelai is now 3 months old. At her 2 month doctor appt she was 10 pounds 12.5 ounces and 22 in long. At that same appt she got her first shots. She handled it like a champ. She cried for 5 minutes and then was just fine. I also found out that she has colic. That has been a test of my patience. Overall though she is doing wonderfully and getting big. She has gotten a lot more vocal and this weekend we hit a huge milestone. She rolled over all by herself! i was a very proud mommy to see that happen!<br /><br />Things just continue to be interesting around here and full of new adventures every day!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-50323294369786480002010-11-09T07:31:00.000-08:002010-11-09T07:41:19.461-08:00Learning To Be MommyOkay so Lorelai is now 1 month and two days old! She has grown quite a bit in the past month and she currently ways 8 pounds and 3 ounzes. We have already gone on lots of adventures. She has met the dogs and they are slowly adjusting to each other. Archie still whines like crazy when he is around her. We have gone to the park and gotten lots of pictures taken. Thank you Laura! We have gone to my dad's aka Papa's house and stayed there in Boonville. We met a bunch of Papa's friends from work at caterpillar! The girls have gone nuts everytime they see her. We have gone over to Brittney's house and played with Gabe! Play dates already. She went to her first Halloween party over and Greg and Laurens and we had tons of fun! Then we stayed home and watched scary movies and passed candy out to all the trick or treaters. Then this past weekend Lorelai got to meet her daddy for the first time. He has been in St.Louis which is where he lives and couldn't make it for her birth. So we spent the weekend with her dad and let them try to get used to each other. I'm definitely learning a lot being a mommy but I do have to say is thank you god for giving me a very relaxed and easy child to deal with! She is sooo patient with her mommy! Anyhow, I will keep everyone updated on the new experiences we have as we go along!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-17970816932436717702010-10-25T08:59:00.000-07:002010-10-25T09:23:45.041-07:00Lorelai Elizabeth 10/7/10! She finally made it to the world!I know I'm a little behind but I figured I would try to update a little bit. On Oct 5th I had my 37 week doctor appointment. Well at that point I was still doing ultrasounds every week and in these ultrasounds they watch the baby to see if they do their practice breathing. Well my daughter decided not to do her practice breathing. My doctor then decided that we would do another ultrasound the next day and see if she decided to do it then. So I went in the next day and they did the ultrasound and of course my stubborn daugther decided that she didn't want to do her breathing exercises again. Then we went in and talked to my doctor again and he decided that it was time to induce!<div><br /></div><div>Next step was to run home get my bags and call everyone under the sun and let them know we would be having a baby the next day! After about an hour or so I finally got back to the hospital and they gave me a med called cervadel to try to thin out my cervix. I had to keep that in for 12 hours and then they started the pitocin. This started my contractions and there I sat for the next 12 hours having contractions that they kept telling me were as strong as contractions that women normally have at 10cm and I was sleeping through them! They were totally amazed! Anyhow eventually I dilated to 4cm and then got stuck there for about four hours. The doctor then said that it was time to consider a c-section. Which made me extremely upset. I was bound and determined to have this baby naturally but they were worried that if I kept trying naturally that something would happen. So, I finally agreed to have the c-section. They then wheeled me off and got me prepped. I ended up having a spinal block which totally numbed me from mid belly all the way to my toes. One of the strangest feelings I think I will ever experience. They got me into the operating room and it was freezing cold. I was shaking so bad I thought I was having a seizure. Eventually they finally let my mom come in and sit with me which was very comforting to have her in there with me. Next thing I knew I was getting sick and threw up apple juice all over the place! Mom laughs and says I managed to make it 21 years with out getting puked on! Anyhow the doctor is sitting there tugging and pulling on my stomach and all I feel like is there is some very weird numb,pressure feeling all over. Then all of a sudden at 7:04pm I heard my baby girl cry! It was the greatest thing ever. It felt like it took forever for them to bring her around to me so I could see her. When I finally got to see her all I could think was how much she looked like me. She has my eyes and mouth and her daddy's nose, hands, and feet! She was goregous. She weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 and 3/4 inches long! She had a head full of black thick hair and she came out peeing on the doctors and flipping them off. We then stayed in the hosptial for four days after that and met everyone! Then we got to go home and have been enjoying each other and learning about each others little tendencies ever since then! </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-664784537379251212010-09-27T21:35:00.000-07:002010-09-27T21:42:52.072-07:00I'm exhausted!!!Ok so it is now 11:35 pm and I have now been up for about 24hrs straight. I'm officially exhausted and all I want to do is sleep but I just can't manage to get comfortable. The good news is today I'm 36 weeks pregnant meaning I have hit the nine month mark and I only have 4 weeks to go that is if Lorelai doesn't decide to show up before hand. I have a doctor appointment in the morning so we will see what the doctor has to say and if he is going to make her show up early! As much as I'm anxious to meet my bundle of joy I figure she will come out when she is ready. So I try to just deal with all the things that are making me uncomfortable at this point knowing that it is all to keep her healthy and happy!<br /><br />I went to check out a home daycare today. I was very excited about it. The lady who runs it is very friendly and she was a nurse but her real passion is run her daycare. There are only three other kids there at the moment one of which is her daugther. The oldest kid there is only two, this made me feel more comfortable knowing that Lorelai would have kids pretty close to her age around. I was also pretty excited because she works with the kids on sign language and spanish...I know it's a tad early for the spanish but I had definitely planned on teaching Lorelai some sign language anyway so that was very encouraging as well.<br /><br />Well I think I'm going to attempt to go lay down and see if I can catch a few zzzs. Anywho have a good night everyone and I will let you know the appt goes in the morning!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-58826178623995869592010-09-21T10:16:00.000-07:002010-09-21T10:24:10.608-07:00So here is the latest updates in my life....I have been doing pretty good other than getting to be absolutely huge! I keep gaining more and more weight ( I know it's apart of being pregnant but gosh!) Lorelai seems to be doing really well. I on the other hand have been having the issues. Sunday morning I woke up with a charlie horse in my left calf at 6am which hurt like hell and then to add to it I started to get a headache. Well this headache is still here and driving me nuts. I went to see my doctor yesterday only to find out he wasn't there because he was on call over the weekend. So I had to go see a physicians assistant who gave me a script and said go home and rest which I did and yet I still have the headache. I then went to see my doctor today for my normal check up and he isn't sure why I'm having the headache other than the fact that he still thinks I could possibly have preeclampsia. So he put me on bed rest until Lorelai comes into the world and then I had to go get blood tests done. He also checked my cervix and I'm half a centimeter dilated. Now the waiting game begins...one for the results of my blood test and two to keep dilating! I'm just anxiously awaiting to see what happens next!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-60374141084282825792010-09-16T09:00:00.000-07:002010-09-16T09:38:57.635-07:00We are getting Closer!!!Okay so I know it's been a couple of weeks since I have been on here. There really hasn't been much going on here other than I'm getting bigger and bigger as the days go by. Which is driving me nuts because I can't seem to get comfortable to save my soul! Lorelai is doing really well she keeps growing and the doctor says everything is looking good. I swear she knows whenever I'm talking to her because she starts kicking me...like she is doing now! The doctor is saying that my blood pressure is looking good for now and has let me work for two weeks now! Yay and Thank you God! We had my baby shower this past weekend and I had a total blast seeing everyone there and having them all there to celebrate with me! Lorelai got lots of cool new presents that I'm sure she will love to play with and use when she gets here. We are now down to the last six weeks of my pregnancy but she could come even sooner than that. My doctor also said that if I have any more complications with my blood pressure that we will have to induce at 37 weeks. So we will see what happens with that. Other than getting ready for Lorelai not much is really going on. I'm super duper duper excited because it is finally the FALL and it's cooling off! The leaves are starting to change colors and all the holidays are starting to come!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-87138483672453661232010-08-25T08:01:00.000-07:002010-08-25T08:12:09.203-07:00Patiently Waiting!Things are going fairly well. I went to the doctors yesterday and actually missed my ultrasound appointment by about 15 minutes. Ugh. Although we still ended up doing a Non Stress Test (NST), which I have to have them done every week. I think my child has just decided that whenever we are at the doctors she is just going to sleep during the NST. Anyhow they ended up waking her up by what they call buzzing you. It's like a wand and they put it on your stomach and then it essentially shakes your stomach to wake the baby up. Well it would wake her up enough for her to kick once and then go back to sleep! Stubborn child! That whole process ended up happening twice. After all that fun stuff I went over to Dr. Jone's office and he told me that my blood pressure was up again and that he was putting me on bed rest for two days and do some more blood work. So I get to go back Thursday morning and have a ultrasound and then they are going to tell me how my blood work is looking and if i'm going on complete bed rest or not. Lorelai however seems to be doing really well and they aren't too worried about her at this point. Which is a relief to me.<div><br /></div><div>At the moment I'm sitting here trying not to feel like a huge lazy bum which is truly about all you can feel like when you can't get up to do anything but go to the bathroom and get food! I don't know how long I can handle it. So I have been crossing my fingers and praying my butt off that everything is fine. I guess we will find out tomorrow morning. I'm hoping that maybe I can at least break bed rest for an hour tonight and go to church. Im thinking I will even put my feet up on the chair next to me...so I will still be on bed rest. Lol. Just at church. </div><div><br /></div><div>I'm really not sure what else there is to say at this point nothing to exciting other than that stuff has gone on lately. I will keep you all posted! </div>Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-44440323251633180052010-08-16T10:06:00.000-07:002010-08-16T10:12:55.783-07:00Getting CloserWell today I'm officially 30 weeks along. I'm doing pretty good other than having a huge stomach attached to me, swollen ankles, being extremely tired all the time, and moving slower than a turtle. I guess that is what happens when your pregnant in the first place and then you add this lovely August heat we have had. Anyhow the gestational diabetes testing and preclampsia testing results came back and both were fine. Yay! Thank you God! We have started going to the doctors every week now and every time we have an ultrasound Lorelai decides she doesn't want her picture taken. The first week she had her face facing my spine, making it hard to get a picture of her. Last week she decided that she was going to put her hand in front of her face but I did get a picture of her foot instead. So we will try again tomorrow and see what stunt she tries to pull or if she is going to let me get a picture of her. The doctor says she is weighing about 2Ibs and 15 oz right now. I don't know how she can be so tiny but cause me to look and feel huge! Oh well. I managed to survive another turnover at the apartments. Luckily this one wasn't as big as the last one but seems to be having more complications than the last one but we survived. Oh the gum cleaning thing went well and my gums don't hurt or bleed near as bad as they did. I have to go back for a follow up on Thursday and they are going to polish my teeth I guess. That ought to be interesting.Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-27857506277904023532010-08-02T20:10:00.000-07:002010-08-02T20:20:23.020-07:00Almost FinishedWell today I'm officially 28 weeks pregnant!!!! Meaning there is only three months left before my beautiful little girl gets here. I'm getting extremely anxious for her arrival even though I'm not anywhere near being prepared but still I'm ready for her to get here. I feel like this last trimester has gone so freaking slowly. Lorelai is kicking the crap of me and loves to be up when her momma is trying to sleep and asleep when I'm awake. Mom, zoe, parker, and Dad are still anxious to feel her kick. Which is a little bit of a challenge since she likes to do that more at night that during the day. I have managed to survive turnovers at the apartments this weekend. All I have to say is I haven't worked weekends in a looooonnnnngggg time and it has completely thrown my week off. I'm telling you though you run into some really odd things when you work in an apartment complex! Oh I have a doctors appt this week and this is the fun one where I get to do the diabetic testing and another u/s and then I get to go back every week from now until Lorelai is born so they can do ultrasounds to make sure she is growing properly. On top of all that I get to get my gums cleaned on thursday which means that they are going to numb my gums which means they are going to give me shots in my gums! Yikes! It makes me totally nervous. I think that is all for now. I will keep you all posted in to what happens next!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8369755230282120657.post-22539247247433536242010-07-19T14:40:00.000-07:002010-07-19T14:50:31.906-07:00AHHHHH STRESS!!!!So at the moment I'm completely stresssed out there is to much to do and not enough time to do it all. I wish we had 72 hours in a day instead of just 24. I have two tests everyday from here on out. I have two clinicals left. Luckily I don't have to do much traveling for them but still there is a ton of paperwork to do for them. On top of all of this the week of school I have atleast one final everyday plus just a normal test. I have to plan graduation, a retirement party for a teacher, help with my baby shower, and get ready for this baby to come. By the way Lorelai is doing pretty well. She is continually kicking me typically down in my pelvis but when she is mad at me for laying on my stomach she kicks in the middle of my stomach. I went to the dentist last week and they told me I have periodontal disease which is causing my gums to be swollen and bleed when I brush my teeth and on top of that all four of my wisdom teeth are coming in....can you say painful! So they are going to do a deep gum cleaning but they have to numb my entire mouth...ouch once again extremely painful! To top of all this off my doctor has told me that after this next visit I have to go in to the doctors every week from that point on until Lorelai is born just to make sure she is growing because of my history of high blood pressure. So there is a lot going on..Hopefully as soon as school is over life will calm down a little bit!<br /><br />Talk to you all soon!Abbihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11358230201762109614noreply@blogger.com0
